John J. Poshepny General If I may ask, why did 1 RT a Day carry Baggage? 2/9/2008 9:28:22 AM
Marty Bernard General Probably a historical holdover. 2/9/2008 2:09:25 PM
Chuck Zeiler General I was a paperboy in my teen years during the early 1960's, and I recall that the Sunday supliments were delivered by the Q loaded in a combine power car, but if the supliments were large, a baggage car would be used. The supliments arrived a few days before Sunday. 3/13/2008 12:47:29 PM
Mark Evans General Many commute consists nationwide carried head-end cars for local mail/express runs...SP did so until 1966. Wonderful rare shot! 6/19/2008 6:42:02 PM
Jim Gavin General On the EL we used an MU combine to haul the Sunday papers on a late Saturday night train. Maybe that's the deal here. 1/16/2009 10:26:50 PM
