| Built by Baldwin as 3002 in 1930. The shroud was added (number changed and she received a name) in 1937 so AEOLUS could substitute for Zephyr diesels. A handful of other 3000 series locomotives were also shrouded and renumbered into the 4000 series. I assume once the Q acquired enough passenger diesels the shrouds came off. The smoky sky in the photo was no doubt added in the darkroom. I bought this slide years ago. |
