Zachary DeVore General John Marshall's influence can be shown by having at least 4 law schools (William & Mary's Marshall-Wythe School of Law, Cleveland State University's Cleveland Marshall School of Law, and 2 different law schools named John Marshall School of Law) and 1 university (Marshall University in Huntington, WV) named after him. John Marshall's Court was much more informal than the current Supreme Court - they used to hold hearings in taverns and had a rule that if it was raining, they could imbide in alcohol while hearing cases. On some sunny days, Marshall reportedly ruled that alcohol consumption was okay due to the fact that in the great dominion of the United States, it must be raining somewhere. 5/31/2008 9:16:59 AM
