CRI&P 2, Englewood Union Station Editors Pick! Contributor's Pick!
An EMD intercity failure ends its days at age 10 downgraded to commuter service, not a good application of a train with few and narrow doors. There are actually three additional RI trains in the distance in this picture.

Marty Bernard General Tim, thanks for the Editor's Choice on this one. 2/20/2007 8:09:13 AM
Gregg Bartley General I'm sorry, but this reminds me of a 1954 Chevy, for some reason. 2/20/2007 1:45:11 PM
Zach Pumphery General GM's auto and locomotive design people both worked on this thing about that time, so maybe that's why. 2/20/2007 11:47:50 PM
Marty Bernard General It looks like an Edsel on hemroides to me. Zach, they were working on it a decade earlier and this failure is the result. See: http://www.carofthecentury.com/the_aerotrain.htm 2/21/2007 8:03:32 AM
David Cenci General Nice..and btw..I see 4 trains in this pic. 5/17/2007 2:07:38 PM
Andre Wehrle General Nice, hard to think of this as ever having existed outside NRM at GB! 12/12/2008 4:45:32 AM
Stu Slaymaker General Fabulous shot. I rode it once, but by the time I got a decent camera, it was out of service. 4/6/2011 1:29:55 AM
Mike Maskel General looks like a space ship 4/8/2011 5:42:10 PM
L Beckman General For the record, the bridge in the far background is the Englewood line of the CTA "L". 2/1/2012 10:05:40 PM
Dale Schmeisser General Great Pic. When I rode it after it went into commuter service I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Later I learned why the design was never successful, which explained why as an 11 year old I was bouncing all over the seat when it was at high speed. 1/31/2015 3:19:06 PM
