BN 4068 Dead and Why  Contributor's Pick!
Roster says she was retired April 1980. So why was she kicking around 7 years later? And why Ft. Wayne when last operating pictures are in Portland, OR?

Ashley Rodriguez General seems like the dates on these are wacked out. someone has this unit in 2007. 9/10/2009 12:04:40 PM
Chris Howe General This unit was sold to the Spencerville and Elgin shortline that operated the ex EL mainline east of Lima, OH to Glenmore, OH. They had this engine sitting dead at Ohio City, OH thru at least 1995 and it probably got to Ft. Wayne via the IHRC to Bluffton, IN and then NS up to East Wayne yard in New Haven where this photo was taken. Have no clue what happened to it after it left the SPEG though 5/9/2010 7:02:01 PM
Chris Howe General I stand corrected in my comments, after viewing another photo I realize now that this photo was NOT taken at East Wayne yard, sorry Marty. Looks like Piqua yard instead, which means the SPEG interchanged it to CR at Lima and then it traveled to Ft. Wayne apparently 5/9/2010 7:05:46 PM
Mark E General This unit was used as a spare parts source by the SPEG, and was stored in Ohio City, OH along with their red S4. The two units stood moth-balling for many years before being cut up in 1997. I have videotape of this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9R7-QnDpp0 12/9/2010 2:26:21 AM
